In a surprising move, President William Ruto has dismissed all Cabinet Secretaries, including Attorney General Justin Muturi. The announcement was made during an address at the State House on Thursday. Notably, the offices of the Deputy President and the Prime Cabinet Secretary remain unaffected by this sweeping decision.
President Ruto stated that the decision aligns with the demands voiced by Kenyans during recent nationwide demonstrations. He emphasized that this action follows a comprehensive evaluation of his Cabinet’s performance, achievements, and challenges.
“Upon reflection and listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after a holistic appraisal of the performance of my Cabinet and its achievements and challenges,” President Ruto remarked, “I have today, in line with the powers given to me, decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the CSs and AG except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the CS for Foreign Affairs. The office of the Deputy President is not affected in any way.”
In the interim, the Principal Secretaries within the respective ministries have been directed to assume charge of their respective departments. This dramatic reshuffling underscores President Ruto’s commitment to addressing public concerns and ensuring effective governance.
The President’s decision marks a significant shift in Kenya’s political landscape, as he aims to restore public trust and enhance the government’s responsiveness to the needs and aspirations of its citizens.
