President William Ruto has nominated Dorcas Oduor to the position of Attorney General, replacing Justin Muturi, who was recently nominated as Public Service Cabinet Secretary. The announcement was made on Tuesday, highlighting Oduor’s extensive legal background and qualifications.

Currently serving as the Secretary of Public Prosecutions at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Oduor brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Laws and a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management, both from the University of Nairobi.

“The presidential nominations as transmitted to Parliament pertain to the position of the Attorney-General nominated Ms Dorcas Agik Oduor, SC, EBS, OGW, for appointment to the position of the Attorney-General of the Republic of Kenya,” President Ruto announced.

Oduor’s nomination is now subject to parliamentary approval, where her credentials and experience will be reviewed. If confirmed, she will take over from Justin Muturi and play a crucial role in the legal and judicial affairs of the country.
