On Monday, August 5, a suspect and his accomplice were arrested for attempting to bribe officers of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at the agency’s headquarters.
According to a DCI statement, the duo was caught red-handed trying to bribe the officers with Ksh50,000 in cash to secure the release of human trafficking victims held at Isinya Police Station in Kajiado County. The incident occurred at the DCI headquarters in Nairobi.
The suspects attempted to bribe officers from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit. Following their arrest, they were taken to Muthaiga Police Station for further questioning, and the money was confiscated as evidence.
The DCI suspects that the two are part of a well-organized human trafficking ring operating in Kajiado County. They are currently in custody awaiting arraignment for attempted bribery.
