A middle-aged woman from Eldoret, Abigael Yego, has been sentenced to four years in prison for the killing of her husband, Livingston Kamau. The High Court in Eldoret, presided over by Judge Reuben Nyakundi, found that the prosecution had conclusively proven that Yego committed the crime on June 17, 2019, at Moi’s Bridge in Uasin Gishu County.

The fatal incident stemmed from an argument between the couple, who had a four-month-old baby at the time. Judge Nyakundi also noted that he had received a letter from the deceased’s father, Josphat Mwangi, who expressed forgiveness toward Yego.

A report from the children’s office was also presented in court, indicating that the infant, who has developed health issues, should remain with his mother for breastfeeding during her incarceration. Yego has 14 days to appeal the decision.”
