The High Court has summoned Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli to appear in court at 3 p.m. today in connection with the disappearance of two siblings and an activist in Kitengela two weeks ago. This order follows allegations that the trio—Bob Njagi, an activist, and brothers Jamil and Aslay Longton—were abducted by individuals believed to be police officers on August 19, 2024.
The court’s directive comes after a lobby group petitioned for the release or court presentation of the missing individuals, leading to a High Court order on August 23, 2024, mandating the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service (NPS) to disclose their whereabouts.
Reportedly, Njagi was forcefully removed from a Kitengela-bound matatu by three hooded men, while the Longton brothers were also taken by individuals in suits, suspected to be law enforcement officers. Despite these allegations, no concrete evidence has been provided to substantiate the involvement of police officers.
