Quiver Steak House, a popular nightclub in Milimani, Nairobi, has finally succumbed to public pressure, announcing it will permanently lower the volume on its speakers.
Residents living near the establishment have long complained about sleepless nights due to excessive noise from the club. The grievances led to calls for action from local authorities.
Responding to the public uproar, the club revealed it had made a “groundbreaking decision to become the first nightclub to adopt a revolutionary concept – no longer playing loud music.”
Quiver Steak House confirmed that guests will continue to enjoy its offerings, but without the backdrop of loud music.
“This innovative approach is designed to create an environment where guests can still have fun while engaging in meaningful conversations and bonding without the distraction of loud music,” the club said in a statement. “The energy of our patrons will now set the tone for the night, rather than amplified sound.”
The statement added that the absence of loud music is meant to foster a more social atmosphere, where laughter, chatter, and the clinking of glasses take center stage.
Despite the move, some residents expressed frustration, pointing out that the club’s noise levels had been unbearable, especially in the late hours.
A local family with triplets shared their struggles with the noise pollution. Otieno Wafula told the media, “For the last three months, since they introduced live band performances, music blares until 3 a.m.”
His wife, Shilla Odero, added, “I often have to call him to complain to the management, but they never respond.”
The nightclub operates within proximity to key institutions, including the Military headquarters, State House, and the Nairobi County Commander’s office.
