The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved charges against allies and staff of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, clearing the way for their prosecution. The DPP, Renson Ingonga, expressed satisfaction with the evidence presented and authorized the charges.

In a letter addressed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) chief Mohamed Amin, Ingonga stated that there is sufficient evidence to charge the suspects with conspiracy to commit a felony, in violation of Section 393 of the Penal Code.

Additionally, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) instructed that a separate inquiry file be opened to investigate money laundering and other financial crimes, with the police expected to return the findings to Ingonga’s office.
