The Wiper Democratic Movement and the Democratic Action Party – Kenya (DAP-K) signaled plans on Monday to leave the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition and form a new political alliance by the end of next year. Speaking in Kitale at the home of the late former Vice President Kijana Wamalwa, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa announced that they have begun the legal process to facilitate their exit from Azimio.
The two leaders revealed that preparations are underway to establish a new coalition, potentially to field a presidential candidate in the 2027 General Election. During a press briefing, they also suggested that Kalonzo could lead the new coalition once it is officially registered.
