Marimati residents in Tharaka Nithi County are expressing heightened frustration over a surge in bodaboda (motorbike) thefts that are threatening their livelihoods. With many residents relying on these motorbikes as a primary source of income and transportation, the frequent thefts have stirred fear and dissatisfaction within the community.

Locals report that the bodaboda thefts have become a near-daily occurrence, yet they feel their calls for help are going unheard by local security officials. Frustrated residents claim that their reports to authorities have led to little or no action, leaving them feeling increasingly vulnerable and unsafe.

“The lack of response has left us feeling abandoned,” one resident remarked. “We rely on these motorbikes to earn a living and to transport goods. Without them, many of us are losing both income and mobility.”

The community is now calling on local authorities to prioritize the security issue, fearing that the situation may escalate further if action isn’t taken soon.
