Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to transforming the health sector and addressing the challenges faced by healthcare providers.
Speaking on Wednesday at the First Nairobi Health Scientific Conference, Prof. Kindiki acknowledged existing disparities in healthcare delivery, particularly during the ongoing transition from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to the Social Health Authority (SHA).
The Deputy President stated, “Those who think that a developing country cannot roll out a successful health reform program that has been impossible to implement in some developed countries will witness the success of this program because we have a clear vision. This is what it means to the people.”
He underscored the crucial role of a robust healthcare system in driving Kenya’s economic growth, noting that improved health services are integral to national development.
Prof. Kindiki also urged stakeholders across counties to rally behind the government to ensure the successful implementation of the health reforms. He highlighted President William Ruto’s commitment to streamlining healthcare, expressing confidence that the administration’s vision would elevate SHA beyond critics’ expectations.
