A family in Bureti is grieving the sudden loss of their 16-year-old son, Samwel Cheruiyot, who collapsed and died moments after winning a shot put competition during a school sports event.
Cheruiyot, a Grade 9 student at Chelilis Junior Secondary School, fainted while celebrating his victory with fellow students. He was initially taken to Chelilis Clinic for first aid before being transferred to Litein Hospital and later to Kapkatet Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The exact cause of his death remains unknown, though his father mentioned that Cheruiyot had a history of epilepsy. The family is awaiting a postmortem examination to determine what led to his sudden passing.
