A devastating accident in Malongo Village, Suba South Constituency, Homa Bay County, claimed one life and left 15 others critically injured after an overloaded pickup truck carrying 24 church members overturned on Tuesday.
The group was heading to Suba Subcounty Hospital in Sindo to collect a body when the crash occurred. Eight others sustained minor injuries and received treatment at a nearby health facility, while emergency responders rushed the critically injured to local hospitals for urgent medical attention.
Authorities condemned the dangerous misuse of a pickup—meant for transporting goods—to carry passengers, highlighting blatant safety violations.
