The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has ordered health facilities operating near petrol stations and residential buildings to relocate within six months, citing safety and public health concerns.

In a notice shared on X, KMPDC stated that the directive aims to enhance patient safety and prevent the spread of infections by ensuring that medical facilities function in appropriate environments.

The council highlighted several risks associated with these locations, including exposure to flammable materials, inadequate infrastructure, and disturbances that could compromise patient care.

“To provide a safe and conducive environment for both patients and the community, these facilities must relocate within six months. Failure to comply will result in closure,” the council warned.

The directive is expected to affect numerous health centers across the country, with authorities emphasizing the need for medical institutions to adhere to regulatory standards to ensure quality healthcare services.
