The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has released Ksh1.56 billion to students and trainees in various institutions across Kenya to cater for tuition and upkeep.
The disbursement follows President William Ruto’s directive to fast-track financial aid, as confirmed by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos. More than 65,000 students from different institutions will benefit from the funds, offering much-needed relief amid rising education costs.
According to HELB CEO Charles Ringera, beneficiaries have been notified through official communication channels and advised to check their HELB portals for updates.
CS Migos assured that the funds will enable students to continue with their academic, training, and research programs without disruption.
So far, the government has disbursed Ksh32.7 billion, benefiting 195,522 trainees in TVETs and over 390,000 university students.
