The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has criticized Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja for participating in a political rally led by President William Ruto in Nyeri County.
In a statement on Thursday, LSK President Faith Odhiambo raised concerns over Kanja’s presence and remarks at the Kieni rally, stating that his involvement compromised the impartiality of the National Police Service and violated constitutional principles.
Odhiambo demanded that the police boss withdraw from all political engagements and issue a public apology, citing the National Police Service Act and the Leadership and Integrity Act, which bar State officers from engaging in political activities.
She further emphasized that the Inspector General’s office is independent and should not be used to serve political interests.
