Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has issued a stern warning to Principal Secretaries (PSs) and accounting officers across government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), urging full compliance with the Electronic Government Procurement (eGP) system rollout.

Speaking during the official eGP launch in Nairobi on Monday, Mbadi directed all MDAs to immediately begin implementation of the new system, starting with the registration of suppliers and procuring entities.

The CS warned that any failure or resistance by PSs to onboard their departments onto the system would prompt him to recommend disciplinary action to the President, who serves as the appointing authority.

The eGP system is expected to streamline procurement, enhance transparency, and enable the government to publicly share procurement plans and tendering processes. It will also help maintain updated and centralized records of government spending and operations, ensuring accountability across all departments.
