Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has ordered the immediate transfer of senior police officers stationed at Ang’ata Barikoi in Trans Mara, Narok County, following violent clashes on Monday that left five protestors dead

Speaking during a high-level security consultative meeting with local leaders and residents over the ongoing land disputes in the region, IG Kanja announced the removal of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer in charge of the area. He instructed DCI Director Amin Mohamed to recall the officer to headquarters and assign a replacement without delay.

In a similar directive, the General Service Unit (GSU) Commander in the region has also been recalled, with an immediate replacement ordered as part of efforts to restore calm and public confidence in the security apparatus.

“Investigations have already been instituted. All the investigators from Nairobi are already here with you. They must establish the truth, and anyone found culpable will carry their own cross and must be held responsible for their actions,” said Kanja.
