The launch of the Green Park terminus that was to take today has been postponed to allow for further consultations.
Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) yesterday said the decision was arrived at to allow negotiations with operators who had objected to the move. The operators had faulted the launch of the Sh250 million project arguing the government was launching the project without proper consultations.
Chair Matatu Owners Association Simon Kimutai said the government ought to have addressed key issues including where the PSVs will be waiting after they drop off passengers.
“We support any attempt that will make this city a better place. However, we should look at some of the teething problems. As we speak they want to start with Ngong Road but they are not telling us where matatus like City Hoppa will be waiting. We are worried that this project may end only benefitting a few,” said Kimutai. Those using Langata Road will begin operations at the terminus on May 27.
