A Kiambu woman who was accused of robbing Sh.4 million from her employer was on Tuesday 19th July 2022 by police officers at a witchdoctor’s house where she is alleged to have gone to seek protection against arrest.
The alleged, Miriam Mwelu, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), was arrested in company of her partner in crime Timothy Akoi at the witchdoctor’s house in Gichie, Kiambu county.
According to the DCI, they were met with a frightful scene as they found Mwelu immersed in a basin containing a concoction of blood believed to have been drawn from a dead bird, whose features resembled those of a cock.
The witch doctor then started chanting incantations in bid to hold the officers at bay but could not prevent them from making their way into the house but nevertheless, the witch’s chants and restrictions couldn’t hider them, DCI from entering.
Its until this time that Mwelu was by surprise told by the in-charge of operation ‘mama bado tuko hapa vaa nguo twende’ which hit her harder than she expected.
An assembly of charms including horns, feathers and cowrie shells were recovered at the witch’s house. Mwelu later led the detectives to her parents’ home in Ithanga, Muranag’a county, where a wad of cash amounting to Sh.1.57 million and jewelry reportedly stolen from her employer were recovered.
