Governor Kawira Mwangaza has visited Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital so as to get first hand information and identification of challenges facing the institution.Addressing the Health workers at the hospital, Governor Kawira gave a raft of measures at the facility in streamlining services at the facility among them tasking the hospital board to come up with strategies to reduction of queues at the front office by ensuring the system is fully digitized.In her government CECMs and Chief officer in the department would both come from the Health workers to ensure pertinent issues affecting the sector are adequately solved.She would also be establishing a wellness center for health workers, ensure timely promotion and all the salary arrears withheld for staff who participated in an industrial strike during the last regime to be paid promptly.Facility improvement Fund (FIF) collected from patients should immediately be used to purchase drugs for the hospital, ordering as from tomorrow the shortage would be a thing of the past at the hospital.The wardblock constructed by the former regime was being equipped to reduce congestion and her government is in the process of setting up a private Wing at the facility.Finally Governor Kawira has waived hospital fees for the poor, deserving patients and are held at the hospital because of high bills.In company was the County Gentleman Murega Baichu, Deputy Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia, Ag Chief Officer Joseph Wahome Health and the Hospital’s CEO and the Chief of staff Hillary Gitobu.
