The Controller of Budget Dr Margaret Nyakong’o met Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza and Meru County Assembly leadership over the row on Ward Development Fund.
The CoB advised them as follows;
There will be no Ward Development Fund as was demanded by MCAs because their demand is not anchored in any law.
Both Executive and County Assembly needs to work together but with each arm sticking to its mandate and functions.
The Executive to come up with regional balanced projects (Per Ward) through public participations.
MCAs can participate in these public participations as Members of respective communities and should not dictate what projects should be included in the list.
The Office of The Controller of Budget will do a report on the discussions and submit the report to both parties for implementation.
Present were CEC Finance CPA Monica, Speaker of County Assembly and leader of majority among others.
Following the advisory, MCAs have now announced they will not concern themselves with any development project and they will leave thde matter to Kawira and County officers.
